Hello! I’m Lisa and I am delighted to join Severn Psychotherapy as a Registered Psychotherapist Qualifying. I come to this work after spending 30+ years as a practising lawyer. I have been married for over twenty-five years, am a mom, step-mom, and lifelong student of people. I understand the complexities of modern family life because I have lived it, and so bring a combination of keen study and life experience to my work as a therapist.
I work with adults and couples looking for solutions and support. I believe that every individual has immense potential to grow, change and navigate life’s challenges. I also believe that the quality of our relationships is a key to our quality of life. With the right support and skills, everyone can feel better.
I believe that mental and physical health are inextricably linked, and my studies in neuroscience underpin everything I do. I have trained in a variety of therapeutic techniques and am specifically trained in dealing with ADHD. In my couples work, I use Gottman Method and Emotionally Focussed Therapy (EFT) approaches. Because of my work as a divorce lawyer early in my career, I also understand the unique stresses created by separation, divorce and living together as a blended family. I also have a special interest in working with women navigating various life transitions.
In my spare time, I mountain bike, practise yoga and spend as much time outdoors as possible. Most of all, I love connecting with people. I would be delighted to have a conversation with you!

If you struggle with feeling out of control with your reactions, I am here to help! I am a queer, neurodivergent therapist, and I bring a unique background of animal biology and neuroscience to my work. I am drawn to the deep work of psychotherapy, that goes beyond just listening and coping skills, into the root of issues to resolve them. I support people who are struggling in their relationships, who want to not just manage, but understand and resolve their feelings, and those who want more fulfillment out of life. I work particularly in areas like late diagnosis ADHD, anxiety, adulting, queer relationships and men’s issues.
With my background in both biology and psychology, I can help you develop a deeper understanding of why you’re feeling the way you do. I strive to create a collaborative space where you can be your whole self without judgment. I understand how it feels to be stuck, to lack purpose, and to be overwhelmed by big emotions without knowing how to cope with them.
